Pinhole project

In Year 1 of the BA(Hons) degree in Communication Design students are introduced to the principles of photographic exposure by means of a pinhole photography project. With only basic metal tins that the students adapt to hold photographic paper, sealed from light leaking in. Exposing the pinhole to light by removing tape that covers the pinhole allows students to understand the fundamentals of exposure in a physical and practical experience that demonstrates basic exposure theory. Students then proceed to develop their photographs using traditional wet process in darkrooms.
